Mission Sustainability

We intend to document biodiversity on these hills and make a computerized database to supplement the work of the Government and the survey will include vertebrates, butterflies, and insects. These inventories will serve as indexes to entire Western Ghats and as indicators of basic biogeographical patterns. Lesser-known species could be sampled and inventories to supplement the information, thus providing additional insight into the broad patterns and the ways in which change occurs in the region. The abundance and distribution of significant groups deserve special attention, since our present ecological and systematic knowledge of this group is limited and not identified/ investigated.
