I filed a public interest litigation in Supreme Court of India in-person (i.e. without the services of an advocate) to reduce tree felling for construction of a high tension transmission line from Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand, India. The government had sanctioned felling of 90000 - most of them 150 to 200 year old and about 25 metres high trees. By recommending eco-friendly change in design and practises like increasing the tower heights, introduction of practises for laying conductors without felling trees, stopping felling of trees which were outside the minimum electrical clearance limits etc. My achievement – only about 12000 of the sanctioned 90000 trees were eventually cut – a saving of 85% of the trees.

Now, in the construction of other transmission lines also tree felling has reduced.
