I am a Research Scholar in the Bharathiar University which is located near the foot hills of Maruthamalai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The campus is surrounded with 2.5 to 3 lakh trees. Along with my other friends I suggested an idea to the authorities to create a ‘Vermipark’ which is the solution for the wastes from the campus (leaf litters, canteen wastes and hostel wastes). Earlier these wastes were dumped and incinerated in the campus itself. Now, all the wastes collected are used for composting, culturing and conservation of worms. The compost is used now for the trees and plants in the campus. The training can be given to the corporation workers to manage the solid wastes which is now dumped in a village near our town and the project proposal will be submitted to the government
